W13 Reflection
In
the talk, An Attitude if Gratitude, President Thomas S. Monson
says,
"Mother, who willingly made that personal journey into the
valley of the shadow of death to take us by the hand and introduce us to
birth—even to mortal life—deserves our undying gratitude. One writer summed up
our love for mother when he declared, “God could not be everywhere, and so
He gave us mothers.”
While on the cruel cross of Calvary, suffering intense pain and
anguish, Jesus “saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he
saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple,
Behold thy mother!” (John 19:26–27.) What a divine example of gratitude and
love!
My own mother may not have read to me from the scriptures; rather,
she taught me by her life and actions what the “Good Book” contains. Care for
the poor, the sick, the needy were everyday dramas never to be forgotten."
This week this quote stood out to me because i am in the busiest
time in my life as a mother with young children. My children are growing and
learning to live outside my walls. My job as a mother is of utmost importance
at this time. I sometimes get wrapped up in my thoughts that I need to do more
or be more that I forget these days are fleeting. I wish to be the best mother
that I can be. I hope that my children will grow to have testimonies of their
own and know how to take care of themselves as they stay planted firmly in the
gospel. I don't need to be in a hurry to change the world; I only need to be
willing to change the hearts of my children towards Christ.
