W10 Reflection

In the talk "The Challenge To Become" by Elder Dallin H. Oaks he says, "The Apostle Paul said that persons who have received the Spirit of God “have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16). I understand this to mean that persons who are proceeding toward the needed conversion are beginning to see things as our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, see them. They are hearing His voice instead of the voice of the world, and they are doing things in His way instead of by the ways of the world." This week I have been pondering what this means to me.

For me personally what I think this quote means is that I am aligning my will with the Fathers and allowing what He wants for me in my life to be what I want in my life too. It can be hard to create a parallel path with God because I think it is easy to drown out his voice and listen to what the world is saying instead. There are so many enticing things around us that drown Him out. Fame, money, sickness, depression, anxiety, sex, drugs, and many other things that can keep us under the fog that life sometimes brings. It is hard to realize that the sun is shining above that fog and that light and warmth are there for us at any moment we decide to seek it. This is something that I am striving for. I am striving for a life that is fully aligned with the will the Father has instore for me. I want to be doing the is the Lord’s way and not the ways of the world. I don't always see a clear picture of what the future looks like for me, but I continue to trust Him and ultimately, I think in the end I will see success and know that was what I was meant to do all along.
